Find a Sex Therapist in Chicago & All Illinois

I Want To Find A Sex Therapist in Chicago. Can You Help?

Yes, we can. Modern Intimacy offers relationship and sex therapy in Chicago via our teletherapy or online therapy portal. Our licensed sex therapists offer clients healing and treatment for a myriad of concerns related to sex and intimacy.

These can include everything from common sexual problems like erectile dysfunction (ED) to low libido or lack of interest or desire for sex, healing from sexual trauma, intimacy fears, sexual addiction, mental health conditions related to sexual challenges or any other barriers that prevent you (and potentially your partner) from having a happy and fulfilling sex life.

The goal of sex therapy is to help you (and your partner) address what is misaligned or causing you emotional distress and causing your intimate relationship to not bring you the happiness and satisfaction you desire.

How is Sex Therapy Different from Individual Counseling or Couples Counseling?

Sex therapy is different from individual counseling or relationship therapy because the focus of discussion, treatment, and healing exercises are primarily related to the challenges you’re experiencing with your sex life. It is purely related to your own experience and your sex therapist will address what areas of your sex life are causing you the greatest stress and anxiety.

For couples in sex therapy, your sessions will address what is happening between you. Relationship issues are common when couples feel disconnected in the bedroom. Higher levels of conflict, stress, and anxiety are often triggered when a couple experiences difficulty with intimacy. Couples sex therapy has a dual focus: what’s happening between you as well as what’s happening in your intimate exchanges is the primary focus of couples sex therapy sessions.

At Modern Intimacy we have a strong belief that a healthy sex life is attainable for everyone. Our team of licensed sex therapists offer sex positive and non-judgmental counseling services for individuals and couples looking to overcome any obstacles related to sexual health, mental health, and intimacy.

How Are Your Chicago Sex Therapists Trained?

In our Chicago office, our licensed sex therapists are members of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and are Certified Sex Therapists or on the path to becoming certified.

For couples in Chicago, our counselors are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychologists, and other Licensed Clinical Therapists certified in the state of Illinois. Our therapeutic skills include evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other validated styles of therapy that assist us with working with clients across all domains of sexual experiences.

It’s important to note that sex therapy never involves any kind of sexual touch or contact between patient and therapist. Sex Therapy is a form of talk therapy, so sex can be discussed, but will never include physical or verbal sexual contact.

What is a Sex Therapy Session Like?

Sex therapy is very similar to other talk therapy sessions in that you share with your therapist what’s going on in your life and what you want to gain some healing and insight on. Your therapist will help direct your conversations so they are productive. They may introduce different types of talk therapy or skills to improve your life overall. Sessions are typically 50 minutes but may be longer upon request.
