“You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed,
frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes
you human.”

What is Imani's Approach?

Imani’s approach to therapy is direct, but driven by empathy and compassion. She sums up her
therapy approach with the following:

1. The therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is critical to the success
of the client. She prides herself in being authentic and building a supportive and trusting
relationship with each client to create a comfortable environment in which they can
express themselves freely.

2. The client Is the captain of their own journey, and the therapist is just the vessel that
supports the journey. She will provide you with the tools on your journey to be
successful.

3. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Imani understands the impact of external factors on how
we view ourselves and our relationships. Rather than viewing the client as flawed, she
wants to help clients in finding healthy acceptance and being authentically themselves.

4. When it comes to issues related to sex, elements of stigma and shame are often
present. Imani provides education around sex to decrease negative feelings around sex
that are inherent in our culture and decrease anxieties around sex.

Imani is Inclusive

Imani acknowledges the multifaceted challenges of those in marginalized communities: BIPOC, and people identifying in the following communities: Kink, BDSM, Poly, Queer, Transgender.

With this in mind, Imani provides an inclusive space that celebrates the intersectional identities
of her clients.

Imani recognizes the multidimensional scope of the human experience and tailors each therapy experience to meet the specific needs of each client. She is a Professional Member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

“Never forget that you have every right to have a satisfying sex life.”
