Individual Therapist in NYC, New York

I’m looking for a therapist in NYC. Can You Help?

We’re happy to help you navigate the nuances of finding the right therapist for your goals and needs. Modern Intimacy therapists are available to provide non-judgmental, compassionate treatment for a wide range of mental illnesses and conditions to individuals, couples, and families.

We want to acknowledge how it can be a big step asking for support with your mental health. Asking for help comes with openness and vulnerability, which can feel scary and uncomfortable. We want to make this process feel as safe as possible for you. Whether that is during the initial consultation or therapy sessions, our administrative and clinical staff are here to help you get to where you want to be.

Therapy can be many things. It can be a place to open up about past trauma, to gain insight on your thoughts and behaviors, to improve your relationships with others and with yourself, discover new aspects of your identity, and so much more. Working with a therapist can help you become an expert on yourself and your life.

When you have a level of expertise with yourself, you can set clear boundaries, say no when you previously might have said yes, break harmful behavioral and relationship cycles, and overall learn how you can make your life as authentic, embodied, and fulfilling as possible.

You deserve to have a safe space to explore, heal, and get curious about your past, present, and future.

Our therapy sessions are client-centered which means that we are here to meet you where you are at in the process of treatment. You don’t have to show up any differently than where you are currently at with your mental health, relationships, and healing process.

Common modalities our therapists in New York often use, include but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma-informed
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy
  • Somatic, body-based therapies
  • Mindfulness
  • Creative Arts Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Sex Therapy
  • Interpersonal Neurobiology
  • Affect Regulation

It can also be helpful to know that you don’t have to be at your wits end before you make the jump to start therapy. You don’t have to have a profound trauma history or be in a place where you can’t function in your day-to-day life.

While therapy is often recommended in such cases, sometimes, you just need an objective opinion and insight on situations and experiences. It’s great to have a support system you can turn to when you need advice, but therapists are trained professionals who use their training and experience to guide you towards the life you want.

No matter what you are coming to therapy for, you are valid and deserve of empathy and support.

Finding a therapist with the right training and credentials can feel overwhelming, especially when there are so many options available. What sets Modern Intimacy therapists apart is our level of expertise, training, and experience helping people improve their sex lives and relationships.

We understand the huge role that relationships play in our lives, whether they are romantic, platonic, or with our families. It’s important you feel supported within those relationships and if you don’t currently, we can help you get there.
