Does Modern Intimacy have Sex Therapists and What Exactly Does a Sex Therapist Help With?

Modern Intimacy is a group therapy practice that specializes in sex, mental health, and relationships therapy services for both individuals and couples. The therapists on our team are either AASECT Certified Sex Therapists or on their path to becoming a sex therapist and are currently enrolled in their training program. Our sex therapists in San Antonio help individuals and couples with myriad concerns and/or areas of exploration around sex and relationships.

Some common themes we help individuals navigate in sex therapy can include:

  •     Healing from sexual trauma
  •     Low or hyperactive libido
  •     Sexual shame/repression
  •     Overcoming purity culture influences around sex
  •     Anxiety around sex and/or dating
  •     Challenges or inability to reach orgasm
  •     Performance anxiety

We also offer sex therapy services to couples! Couples might work with a sex therapist around the following common areas:

  •     Lack of sex in the relationship
  •     Struggling to find time for sex
  •     Mismatched libidos
  •     Presence of sexual dysfunction(s)
  •     Navigating sex/porn addiction in the relationship

  •     Differences in sexual preferences

The above is not a comprehensive list of everything we help with – if you have questions regarding what our services encompass, feel free to contact us and we’d be happy to confirm if we can help with what you’re looking for.

I Don’t Live Near San Antonio – Can I Still Work with a Modern Intimacy Therapist via Telehealth?

Yes! Our individual and couples sex therapists are able to offer sex therapy services remotely via Telehealth to any residents of Texas. As long as you live in the state, one of our therapists can meet with you virtually for sessions using a secure, HIPAA compliant platform for your convenience and protection.

One of the benefits of video based therapy is that you and/or you and your partner can join session from the comfort of your own home. When living in a metropolitan city, the commute anywhere can feel like a non starter. With Telehealth, you can eliminate that extra step (and one less thing to stress about) and meet with your therapist in the privacy of your home.

If telehealth is not a form of therapy that you’ve done before, we’d be happy to speak with you more about what to expect, should you work with one of our therapists. If you have questions about efficacy, treatment differences, or privacy concerns, we’re here to answer and speak to any and all concerns.

How Do I Book a Session?

Before booking your first therapy session, we’d first like to schedule a brief call with you to ensure that we can help with exactly what you’re looking for. You can schedule a consultation call with one of our Intake Specialists who will confirm that we can help and also answer any questions you might have before starting therapy with us. We look forward to speaking with you and see how we can be of service!
